Nigeria and Türkiye Sign MOU for Mining Cooperation

Nigeria and Türkiye signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the solid minerals sector, marking a significant advancement in economic collaboration between the two nations. The agreement was finalized on the sidelines of the Natural Resources Summit held in Istanbul, Türkiye.

The partnership aims to establish a new framework for collaboration in critical mining infrastructure and resource mobilization. Nigeria's Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alak, emphasized the country's readiness to leverage Türkiye's advanced technological capabilities in modern mining operations.

Alparslan Bayraktar, Türkiye's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, described the new partnership as strategic, especially in light of current global energy security demands that necessitate stronger international cooperation. The signing ceremony concluded with both delegations reaffirming their commitment to immediate actions through a joint technical working group to fast-track investment inflows into Nigeria's mining sector.
