Nigeria and Turkey Sign MOU for Mining Cooperation

Nigeria and Turkey signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to deepen cooperation in the solid minerals sector on the sidelines of the Istanbul Natural Resources Summit. The agreement was signed by Nigeria's Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alak, who emphasized the potential to leverage Turkey's technological advancements and expertise in mining exploration.

The Nigerian government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is committed to strengthening bilateral relations with Turkey, particularly in the mining and energy sectors. Alak noted that reforms in Nigeria's solid minerals sector over the past three years have transformed the operational environment, making it more attractive to genuine investors.

The federal government has implemented measures to improve ease of doing business and create incentives for foreign investors. Alparslan Bayraktar, Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, expressed Turkey's eagerness to invest in Nigeria, highlighting the strategic importance of this partnership amid global energy security demands.
