Nigeria, UK Forge Agreements on Migration and Security

On Wednesday and Thursday, Nigeria and the United Kingdom signed three key agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation in migration management, border security, and business visas. The agreements were signed by Nigeria's Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, during official engagements with representatives from the UK.

The first two agreements were signed on Wednesday evening, while the third was finalized on Thursday. These agreements include a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on migration partnership and a statement of intent to cooperate in combating organized immigration crime and enhancing border security.

The agreements reflect Nigeria's commitment to building a transparent and orderly migration system that aligns with national interests and international obligations. Minister Tunji Ojo emphasized the importance of these agreements in fostering economic growth and removing barriers to trade.

UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood highlighted Nigeria's special place in UK bilateral relations, noting the significance of the agreements in addressing organized immigration crime and improving business mobility for UK companies operating in Nigeria.
