Nigeria, UK Forge Key Agreements on Migration and Business

On Wednesday and Thursday, Nigeria and the United Kingdom signed three memoranda of understanding (MOUs) aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in migration, border security, and business visas. The agreements were signed by Nigeria's Minister of Interior, Tunji Ojo, during a visit to the UK.

The MOUs reflect Nigeria's commitment to a transparent migration framework that aligns national interests with international obligations. They emphasize the importance of building a safe and orderly migration system that benefits both countries.

Ojo expressed hope that these agreements would serve as a model for future bilateral cooperation. The agreements also acknowledge the existing relationship between Nigeria and the UK Home Office, with a focus on combating immigration crime and irregular migration.

Additionally, the business visa agreement aims to facilitate easier business travel for UK companies operating in Nigeria, enhancing trust and investment opportunities. Ojo highlighted the significance of these agreements for Nigeria's socio-economic development and the removal of trade barriers.
