Nigeria and Uzbekistan Prepare for Davis Cup Showdown in Lagos

Nigeria and Uzbekistan are gearing up for their Davis Cup World Group II tie, with Nigeria hosting the training camp at the Nation Stadium in Surulere and the Lago Lawn Tennis Club in Onikan. The Nigerian team, led by Daniel Adeley, will compete against Uzbekistan, with players like Abubakar Yusuf making their Davis Cup debut.

The tie, scheduled for February 7-8, will feature five rubber matches comprising four singles and one doubles encounter. Nigeria, ranked 74th globally, aims to upset Uzbekistan, ranked 49th.

Victor Ochei, President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, expressed confidence in Nigeria's growing stature in international tennis. The event is supported by various organizations, including the ITF, the Nation Sport Commission, and the Lago State Government.

Dr. Adeyinka Adewusi of the Lago Lawn Tennis Club assured readiness to host the Davis Cup tie.
