Nigeria's Women Win Gold, Men Claim Silver at African Champs

At the African Championships held in Accra, Nigeria's women's relay quartet, consisting of Rosemary Nwankwo, Jennifer Chukwuka, Obi Rosemary Chukwuma, and Miracle Ezechukwu, made history by breaking the championship record in the women's 4x100m relay with a time of 42.94 seconds. This victory allowed them to successfully defend their title, finishing ahead of Liberia and Ghana.

The men's relay team, featuring Taiwo Emmanuel, Tejiri Godwin, and Chidera Ezeakor, claimed silver with a time of 38.70 seconds, finishing behind the Ivory Coast, which won gold with a time of 38.52 seconds. Ezeakor also achieved individual bronze in the men's 100m with a time of 10.32 seconds.

Additionally, Nigeria's Tobi Amusan led a clean sweep in the women's 100m hurdles, reclaiming the continental title with a time of 12.83 seconds. The championships ran from May 12 to May 17.
