Nigeria Wins 12 Medals at African Athletics Championship

Nigeria finished the 24th African Athletics Championship with a total of 12 medals, comprising four gold, five silver, and three bronze medals, placing fourth overall. The women's 4x400m relay team, consisting of Esther Okon, Toheebat Jimoh, Jecint Lawrence, and Patience Okon, successfully defended Nigeria's title with a time of 3:29.25, finishing nearly 30 meters ahead of Ethiopia and Kenya.

This victory marked Nigeria's fourth gold medal of the championship. Rosemari Chukwuma won a silver medal in the women's 200m run with a time of 23.60 seconds, finishing behind Ivory Coast's Mabound Kone, who won gold at 23.36 seconds.

Chukwuma had an impressive championship, securing three medals in total, including gold in the women's 4x100m relay and silver in the 100m. Tobi Amusan, the world record holder, won gold in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 12.83 seconds.

Overall, Kenya topped the medal table with 17 medals, followed by South Africa and Ethiopia.
