Nigeria Women Win Gold in 4x400m Relay at Accra 2026

At the 2026 CAA Africa Senior Athletics Championship held in Accra, Ghana, Team Nigeria's women's 4x400m relay team won their fourth gold medal, clocking a time of 3:29.25. The winning quartet consisted of Esther Okon, Toheebat Jimoh, Jacinta Lawrence, and Patience Okon Georg, with Patience Okon Georg running the anchor leg and finishing 30 meters ahead of the second-place Ethiopian team.

The Kenyan team secured the bronze medal. In contrast, the Nigerian men's team struggled, finishing far from the podium, with Zimbabwe winning the race in 3:01.08.

Additionally, Rosemari Chukwuma earned a silver medal in the women's 200m event. Nigeria's Tobi Amusan previously won the country's first gold in the 100m hurdles.
