Nigerian-American Murder Suspect Found Dead in Jail

Olaolukitan Abel, a 26-year-old dual Nigerian-American citizen, was found unresponsive in his cell on April 21, 2026, while incarcerated at DeKalb County Jail, awaiting trial for multiple felony charges, including malice murder and aggravated assault. His arrest followed a homicide investigation linked to the death of Lauren Bulli, an employee of the U.S.

Department of Homeland Security, whose body was discovered in Decatur, Georgia, on April 13, 2026. Abel was implicated in the case after a firearm trace revealed that Damon Marqui Yarn purchased a 9mm pistol used in the crime.

Abel had a previous felony conviction for assaulting a police officer in January 2025. The cause of Abel's death has not yet been determined, and authorities have stated that foul play is not suspected.

An internal review will be conducted regarding the circumstances of his death.
