Nigerian Army Investigates Alleged Killing in Maiduguri

The Nigerian Army has commenced an investigation following allegations that soldiers killed a resident, Abdulrahman Mustapha, in Maiduguri, Borno State, on March 22. The incident reportedly took place near the Polo Axis close to the Federal High Court around 11:40 PM.

The deceased was allegedly unarmed and returning from a Sallah visit when the shooting occurred. Lt.

Col. Sani Uba, the media information officer for Operation Hadin Kai, stated that the Army takes these allegations seriously and is working to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

Preliminary reports suggest that the deceased may have been linked to Boko Haram or the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), as he was found with identification documents bearing different names and suspected narcotics. The Army is committed to ensuring compliance with operational procedures and protecting human rights while maintaining security in the area.
