Nigerian Army Foils ESN Attack in Enugu State

On May 6, 2026, Nigerian Army troops from Sector 1, under Operation Udo Ka, successfully foiled an attack by suspected terrorists associated with the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Imezi Owa, Ezeagu Local Government Area, Enugu State. The operation was conducted in collaboration with security agencies and was informed by intelligence-led patrols.

During the engagement, three personnel sustained injuries but were promptly evacuated to receive medical treatment. Despite the attack, the troops maintained operational dominance, preventing the terrorists from executing their plans.

An improvised explosive device was detonated, leading to a fire that destroyed the terrorists' hideout. Subsequent searches uncovered improvised hand grenades and a shrine used for ritual activities, which were also destroyed to prevent further criminal use.

The Nigerian Army reassured the public of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged residents to cooperate with security agencies.
