DSS and Army Raid ESN Armory in Enugu, Seize Weapons

On Tuesday, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Army executed a raid on an armory belonging to the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Enugu State. This operation was based on credible intelligence regarding plans by the group to unleash terror in the southeastern region.

The raid, which took place around the Garki area of Enugu, resulted in the recovery of a large cache of high-caliber arms, including machine guns, rocket launchers, and various ammunition types. Specifically, the security forces recovered 15 AK-103 rifles, 15 magazines, and 1,434 rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition.

Additionally, the operation led to the arrest of five suspects linked to the ESN, including two Nigeriens involved in coordinating operations across Kaduna, Niger, and Kebbi states. The raid was part of ongoing efforts to combat the activities of the outlawed group, which has been responsible for a series of kidnappings and attacks in the region.
