Security Forces Raid ESN Hideout, Seize Weapons in Enugu

Security forces, comprising the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Army, conducted a raid on an Eastern Security Network (ESN) hideout in Enugu State, recovering a significant cache of weapons. The operation, which took place on a Wednesday, was prompted by credible intelligence regarding the ESN's plans to renew terror activities in the Southeast.

During the raid, security personnel seized a machine gun, a rocket launcher, and multiple AK-47 rifles, along with various ammunition types, including 270 rounds of NATO 7.62x39mm and 478 rounds of 7.62x39mm special ammunition. Additionally, items such as NYSC uniforms and other military paraphernalia were found.

The raid was part of ongoing efforts to combat the rising violence attributed to the ESN and its affiliates, which have been linked to kidnappings and attacks in the region. The operation reflects the heightened security measures being implemented to restore peace in the Southeast.
