Nigerian Army Calls for Stronger Media Collaboration

Major General Warrah Idris, the Theatre Commander of the Nigerian Army, called for stronger media partnerships to aid in restoring peace and security during a media parley at the Theatre Headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara State. This engagement, the first of its kind, gathered media practitioners to discuss security reporting and military-media relations.

Major General Idris highlighted the sacrifices made by troops through various operations and stressed that military actions must be supported by responsible media engagement. He pointed out the media's role in shaping public understanding of security issues and urged journalists to frame terrorism-related reports carefully to avoid glorifying terrorist groups.

He also emphasized the need for accurate reporting of sensitive security information. Ibrahim Musa Maizare, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Zamfara State, welcomed the initiative and pledged journalists' cooperation with military efforts to restore lasting peace.
