Nigerian Arrested in Bangkok Cocaine Distribution Case

Nwaiwu Ifeanyi Placid, a 46-year-old Nigerian, was arrested in Bangkok during a targeted operation against a cocaine distribution network operating in the city's entertainment district. The arrest was confirmed by Sayam Boonsom, the chief of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police Bureau.

During the operation, authorities recovered 27 grams of cocaine and apprehended three additional suspects, including a Swiss citizen, Thoma Giubibini, and two Thai nationals, Thanayot Asawamethi (35) and Nattawat Wangkitjinda (34). The operation also resulted in the seizure of approximately 30 grams of cocaine, 1.5 million baht in cash, foreign currency valued at 15,000 baht, and jewelry estimated at 400,000 baht.

Investigations link this arrest to a previous crackdown on the syndicate that occurred on October 26 of the previous year, which led to the arrest of nine Nigerian suspects. Authorities believe Patrick, a 47-year-old Nigerian, is a central figure in the operation.

The suspects resisted arrest but were subdued, with some admitting their involvement in the drug activities.
