Nigerian-British Businessman Dies After Surgery in Thailand

Igho Ubiribo, a 43-year-old Nigerian-British businessman and social media influencer, died after undergoing a penis enlargement procedure in Thailand. The procedure involved injecting 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine at an unnamed clinic in Bangkok in March.

Following the procedure, Ubiribo experienced chest pain during a massage at their hotel and lost consciousness. He was transported to Sukhumvit Hospital, where he initially responded to questions but lost consciousness again before a CT scan could be performed.

Ubiribo was moved to an intensive care unit, where medical staff attempted resuscitation for over 100 minutes. He died in the early hours of March 6.

A postmortem examination in the UK revealed cellular material in his lungs consistent with the filler used, confirming a pulmonary embolism as the cause of death. The coroner, Jean Harkin, ruled that the cosmetic procedure was responsible for Ubiribo's death.

His medical history included previous joint surgery and conditions such as pre-diabetes and gout.
