Nigerian Content Seminar Launches NOG Energy Week 2026

The Nigerian Content Seminar commenced the 25th edition of NOG Energy Week in July 2026, centered on the theme of shaping the next phase of local content growth in Nigeria's oil and gas sector. The seminar aimed to examine the early phases of Nigeria's content journey, which has redirected industry spending towards local firms and increased their share of contracts.

Experts emphasized the necessity for indigenous companies to build expertise in engineering, manufacturing, and operations to manage increasingly complex assets without relying heavily on imported technology. The seminar also discussed the recent final investment decisions by Shell, including a $2 billion investment in the Hi field and a $5 billion investment in the Bonga North deepwater project.

Key issues addressed included the NCDMB's review of expatriate quota applications and the identification of technical skill gaps that necessitate training for 10,000 Nigerian executives. Felix Omatsola Ogb, the secretary, stated that the initiative aims to equip young Nigerians with the skills needed for participation in new oil and gas projects.
