Ikeja Electric Apologizes for Power Supply Failures in 2026

Ikeja Electric (IE) issued an apology to its customers in Oshodi and Shomolu after five Band A electricity feeders did not meet the required daily power supply of 20 hours on September 30 and October 1, 2026. The company reported the disruptions in a notice published on October 2, attributing the outages to faults on its 11-kilovolt (11KV) and 33KV distribution lines, as well as instability in the national grid managed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
The 33-IsoloTCN-AIRPORT feeder in Oshodi experienced the most significant disruption, receiving no electricity on September 30 and only 4.52 hours on October 1 due to a fault on its 33KV line. Other affected feeders included the 33-IsoloTCN-AJAO line, the 11-Lagos HomsINJ-T1-Estate, and the 33-EjigboTCN-IGANDO feeders, which also fell short of the required supply levels.
Band A customers, who pay higher tariffs for guaranteed service, are expected to receive compensation for the shortfall.
