Maktown Flyers Celebrate BAL Debut with Victory

The Maktown Flyers made a historic debut in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) by securing their first victory against JCA King from Côte d'Ivoire, winning 76-68. The game took place in Rabat, Morocco, and was celebrated by Nigerian fans who gathered at Ikeja City Mall in Lagos to watch the match live.

Jawad Adekoya was the standout player for the Flyers, scoring 20 points, while Tyrel Corbin added 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists. The Flyers dominated the boards, outrebounding JCA King 55-47.

Jonathan Ciss led JCA King with 15 points. Following this victory, the Maktown Flyers faced a loss against the home team, Fu Rabat, with a score of 72-97.

They are scheduled to play against ASC Ville de Dakar on Wednesday as they continue their quest for a top-four spot in the Sahara Conference, which will secure their qualification for the BAL playoffs in Kigali, Rwanda, from May 22 to 31, 2026.
