ADC Accuses Nigerian Govt of Pressuring INEC Over Kwankwaso

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Nigerian government, led by the All Progressives Congress (APC), of attempting to destabilize the party in response to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso's recent defection to the ADC. In a statement signed by Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC alleges that there is pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, to interfere with the party's leadership.

The ADC claims that a letter dated March 28, 2026, from a team of senior advocates, purportedly representing the government, requested INEC to invalidate the party's actions and alter its structure. The ADC views this as part of a grand plan to destabilize opposition parties in Nigeria.

They assert that no amount of pressure will deter their growth as a credible opposition and call on INEC to uphold its constitutional duties without succumbing to political pressure.
