Nigerian Govt Takes Over Zamfara Mine Rescue Efforts After 13 Deaths

The Nigerian government has taken control of rescue operations after a tragic mine collapse in Kadauri Village, Zamfara State, resulting in 13 deaths with two miners still missing. The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development (MSMD) deployed officials to assist in the rescue efforts.

The collapse was attributed to unsafe mining activities by illegal operators in the area. Despite the recovery of 13 bodies, efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining missing miners.

The mine has been sealed following the conclusion of the rescue operation. Preliminary findings revealed that the site was known for loose sandy soil and unregulated gold mining activities.
