Nigerian Navy Celebrates 70 Years with Sports Event

The Nigerian Navy marked its 70th anniversary by organizing a two-day sports event in Warri, aimed at deepening synergy among various security agencies. The event commenced on Tuesday with a football match and a volleyball game involving military and paramilitary personnel.

Commodore Shehu Mohammed Tasiu declared the event open, stating that sports would foster inter-agency cooperation and break institutional barriers. He highlighted the significance of sports in teaching children teamwork, resilience, and self-belief, asserting that a healthy child contributes meaningfully to society.

The event featured mixed teams from different agencies, including the Army, Air Force, Police, NSCDC, Customs, NDLEA, DSS, and FRSC. Tasiu noted that there would be no winners or losers in the matches, emphasizing that the real victory lies in collaboration and mutual support among the agencies.

The sports activities aimed to encourage regular exercise and promote a healthy lifestyle among participants.
