Nigerian Passengers Protest at Nairobi Airport Over Delays

On Monday, Nigerian passengers protested at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, citing neglect by Kenya Airways amid significant flight disruptions due to an ongoing strike by air traffic controllers. Bolaji Tunji, an aide to former Minister of Power Bayo Adelabu, expressed frustration over the delays, stating he was supposed to arrive in Lagos by 11 am after traveling from the UK.

He noted the distress caused by the prolonged wait, particularly for a sick child among the stranded passengers. Kenya Airways acknowledged the disruptions, attributing them to the strike, which had resulted in delays exceeding six hours and necessitated the rescheduling and cancellation of flights.

The airline advised passengers to check their flight status online and mentioned that changes or rescheduling could be done without penalty. Michael Achimugu, spokesman for the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, confirmed that the strike affected flights across Kenya and that he had communicated with the airline's country manager regarding the welfare of the affected Nigerians.
