NCAA Warns Stranded Nigerians Against Protests in Nairobi

On September 1, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) issued a warning to Nigerians stranded at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, advising against protests related to ongoing flight disruptions. Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, stated that the authority could not intervene if any passenger was arrested during protests.

The disruptions have caused significant delays and rescheduling of flights between Nigeria and Kenya, leaving many passengers uncertain about their travel plans. Achimugu explained that airlines are waiting for available slots to resume normal operations, categorizing the disruption as a "force majeure" event.

He urged affected passengers to remain calm while the situation is being resolved and confirmed that refreshments are being provided to those stranded at Gate 23 of the airport. The NCAA continues to engage with Kenya Airways and monitor developments at the airport.
