Nigerian Ugo Ugochukwu Wins Formula 3 Race in Melbourne

Ugo Ugochukwu, a Nigerian-born racing talent, won the FIA Formula 3 Championship race in Melbourne on Sunday, delivering an outstanding performance at the renowned Albert Park circuit. Ugochukwu, who was born in New York City and is the son of Nigerian supermodel Oluchi Onweagba and an Italian father, has maintained strong ties to his Nigerian roots.

He has built a solid reputation in junior motorsport, finishing third in the British F4 Championship and later as a runner-up in the Italian F4 Championship. In 2023, he competed in the Formula Regional European Championship, continuing his steady rise in international motorsport.

Notably, Ugochukwu made history as the first American driver in 43 years to win the prestigious Macau Grand Prix. He is currently part of the McLaren driver development program, which runs from 2021 to 2025, aimed at grooming him for top-level racing.
