Anglican Bishop Criticizes FG Over Economic Hardship

Bishop Josiah Idowu-Fearon, the former Secretary-General of the Anglican Communion Worldwide and founder of the Kaduna Centre for the Study of Christian-Muslim Relations, addressed journalists in Kaduna on Monday regarding the economic crisis in Nigeria. He challenged the Federal Government to acknowledge the hardships faced by millions of Nigerians, particularly due to the removal of the petrol subsidy and foreign exchange reforms implemented by President Bola Tinubu's administration.

Idowu-Fearon noted that many Nigerians struggle to afford basic necessities, with some resorting to only one meal a day. He expressed concern over the impact of rising costs on church attendance and questioned the government's claims of increased revenue, asking where the funds are going.

He illustrated the severity of inflation by citing a price increase from N500 to N5,000 for certain household items and lamented the poor electricity supply affecting daily life. The bishop urged the government to address these pressing issues transparently.
