Davido Urges Nigerians to Speak Out on Insecurity

Nigerian afrobeat superstar Davido, whose full name is David Adeleke, called on citizens to not remain silent regarding the country's worsening insecurity. This statement was made in response to prominent Hausa singer Dauda Rarara, who criticized Davido for his public stance against insecurity during the FIFA World Cup 2026 countdown concert in Los Angeles on June 10.

Davido wore a customized jacket inscribed with "Bring Home" alongside the names of 40 schoolchildren and a teacher who were abducted on May 15 in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. Rarara described Davido's actions as "barbaric," arguing that they risk damaging Nigeria's international image and suggested that Davido's motives were politically motivated.

Davido countered Rarara's claims, insisting that all Nigerians should prioritize national welfare over political interests and that it is patriotic to speak out against insecurity.
