Peter Obi Calls for Action Against Hunger and Poverty

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general elections, stated that the power to ensure credible elections lies with the Nigerian people. He made these remarks on Friday after attending the burial service of Pa Simon Okorie Abaa, the father of NDC senatorial candidate for Ebonyi South, Chief Linus Okorie, at Isiama Primary School in Onicha Igboeze, Ebonyi State.

Obi highlighted his longstanding relationship with Okorie, recalling their previous collaboration in the Labour Party. He expressed concern over the worsening economic situation in Nigeria, noting that poverty and hunger have reached alarming levels, with approximately 70 million Nigerians facing acute hunger.

Obi urged Nigerians to take a stand against the current hardships, stating that it is time to tell those causing suffering that "enough is enough." He emphasized that the determination of the electorate will influence the actions of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the upcoming elections.
