TCN Promises Enhanced National Grid Capacity for Nigeria

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), under the leadership of Managing Director Abdulaziz, has committed to delivering an efficient and reliable transmission network as he begins his second five-year term. During a town hall meeting at the company's corporate headquarters in Abuja, Abdulaziz highlighted the significant growth of Nigeria's transmission network over the past decade, with grid capacity increasing from 5,000 megawatts in 2015 to 8,700 megawatts currently.

This growth is attributed to consistent investments in infrastructure, including the installation of multiple power transformers and the completion of several 330kV and 132kV transmission projects nationwide. Abdulaziz disclosed that TCN has installed 82 transformers within 23 months, with plans for further installations by the second half of 2025.

The company has strengthened its grid capacity through partnerships with international development institutions, including the World Bank and the African Development Bank. TCN aims to ensure that infrastructure investments translate into tangible benefits for Nigerians.
