TCN Boosts National Grid by 600MW with New Project

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced on Thursday the addition of 600 megawatts to the national grid. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Sule Abdulaziz stated that this addition marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation's transmission network.

The project involves the construction of a 330kV transmission line connecting the Ihovbor Transmission Substation to the Ajaokuta area in Edo State, creating two new transmission routes with a total length of 14 kilometers. This strategic project aims to increase operational flexibility and enhance the resilience of power delivery within the Benin corridor.

It will also facilitate the evacuation of bulk electricity from the Azura Power Plant and the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, alleviating transmission bottlenecks and improving system reliability. The new transmission line will enable efficient power distribution across the country, showcasing TCN's commitment to ongoing improvements and collaboration with stakeholders in the power sector.
