Nigeria Plans 7,000MW Boost to National Grid for Improved Power Supply

The Nigerian government, led by Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, has unveiled plans to increase the national grid's capacity by 7,000MW through the Siemens power project. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance power stability and availability across the country.

Adelabu emphasized the government's commitment to expanding electricity access, including deploying off-grid solar energy projects and implementing a nationwide meter program to promote fair billing practices. The government's efforts align with the mission to provide energy access to 300 million Africans by 2030.

Bolaji Tunji, an aide to the Minister, outlined various initiatives aimed at improving electricity distribution and restoring public confidence in the sector.
