Nigeria's Power Crisis Worsens: National Grid Supplies Just 5,506MW in October

Nigeria's power sector continues to struggle as the national grid delivers a mere 5,506MW of electricity in October, accounting for only 40% of the total installed capacity of 13,625MW. The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) reports chronic operational challenges, with the top 10 power plants in the country contributing 80% of the total generation.

Despite some improvements, the sector remains constrained, with inefficiencies persisting across the system. Key power plants like Egbin, Delta, Kainji, and others are operating below their full capacity, highlighting the ongoing issues in the Nigerian power sector.
