Oshiomhole: Nigerians Voted Obi Out of Frustration

Senator Adams Oshiomhole stated that the strong performance of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in the 2023 election was largely a reaction to the economic difficulties faced by Nigerians during the final months of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. In an interview on TVC News, Oshiomhole dismissed claims that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is concerned about Obi ahead of the 2027 general election.

He argued that Obi's votes were not indicative of a robust political structure but rather a response to widespread public anger due to severe hardships caused by government policies. Oshiomhole highlighted the cash scarcity from the naira redesign policy and fuel shortages as significant contributors to public dissatisfaction.

He noted that many Nigerians struggled to access their funds and faced long queues for cash and fuel, leading to frustration. Oshiomhole maintained that the mood across the country was one of disappointment, with voters using the election to express their anger over the prevailing economic conditions.
