First Lady Receives Diaspora Humanity Award in Abuja

The First Lady of Nigeria was honored with the Diaspora Humanity Award during the 2026 National Diaspora Merit Awards held in Abuja. This recognition was for her significant contributions to Nigeria's healthcare sector and humanitarian development.

The event, organized by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), was attended by healthcare professionals and policymakers. Represented by Hajiya Nana Shettima, the First Lady expressed gratitude for the award, viewing it as a call to enhance collaboration in improving healthcare for all Nigerians.

She announced that 70 medical professionals under the Diaspora Health Impact Initiative (DHII) would soon return to Nigeria to conduct medical missions, specialist training, and capacity-building programs. The First Lady emphasized the commitment of President Bola Tinubu's administration to building a resilient healthcare system, highlighting the importance of quality healthcare for national development.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of NiDCOM, praised the contributions of Nigerians in the diaspora to various sectors.
