Oluremi Tinubu Donates N2 Billion for Akwete Fabric Revival

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the Wife of Nigeria’s President, has received commendation for her N2 billion donation aimed at revitalizing the Akwete cloth weaving industry in Abia State. The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), led by President General Comrade Goodluck Ibem, issued a statement praising her intervention during her visit to Akwete in Ukwa East Local Government.

They emphasized that this financial support is a significant investment in Nigeria’s cultural heritage, women’s empowerment, and job creation. COSEYL highlighted the importance of Akwete fabric as a symbol of the ingenuity and cultural identity of the Ndigbo people.

They called on Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti to leverage this momentum to transform the Akwete fabric industry into a competitive industrial hub.

The group also urged for transparent mechanisms to ensure the funds directly benefit genuine Akwete weavers, enhancing production capacity and empowering young artisans.
