Nigeria’s High Commissioner-designate Arrives in India

Ambassador Saidu Dahiru Muhammad, Nigeria’s High Commissioner-designate to India, arrived in New Delhi on Thursday, July 23, 2026, accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Rukayya SD Muhammad. He was welcomed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport by officials from the Nigerian High Commission, representatives from India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and members of the Nigerian community.

In a meeting with the High Commission staff and the Nigerian community, Muhammad expressed his commitment to an inclusive leadership style aimed at strengthening Nigeria-India relations. He noted that this marks his eighth visit to India, recalling his first trip 19 years ago as a young diplomat for a promotion examination.

Muhammad assured that his tenure would focus on consultation and engagement, stating, “Nobody will be left out in terms of our working relationship.” He encouraged Nigerians in India to maintain optimism and self-belief, quoting a poem about the importance of mindset in achieving success.
