Nigeria's Mobile Subscriptions Reach 188 Million in April

As of April, Nigeria's mobile subscriptions have surged to 188.01 million, according to data released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Thursday. Globacom, one of the major telecommunications operators, accounts for 23.18 million of these active users.

The report indicates a significant growth in mobile access, with a teledensity of 86.73%. Additionally, broadband subscriptions have increased to 120.68 million, reflecting a rising demand for voice and internet services.

The data suggests that the subscriber base is positively impacting operational growth, particularly among youth and small businesses. Globacom is preparing to celebrate its 23rd anniversary in August and continues to target the mass market with affordable products, including the Talkmasta tariff plan.

The industry is experiencing heightened competition, with a focus on improving network quality and increasing broadband adoption. The verification exercise to remove inactive lines has strengthened the market performance, positioning Globacom favorably within Nigeria's expanding broadband market.
