Nigeria's Women's 4x400m Team Qualifies for World Relays

Nigeria’s women’s 4x400m relay team successfully qualified for the World Relays, achieving a time of 3:31.14, which placed them 21st in the world rankings. The team, consisting of veteran athlete Patience Okon George, Anita Enaruna, Treasur Okereke, and Jecint Lawrence, competed at the MTN Championship held at UJ Esuen Stadium in Calabar from March 5-7, 2026.

This qualification marks the second time a Nigerian team has secured a spot at the World Relays, which will be hosted on African soil for the first time. Ethiopia finished second in the event with a time of 3:38.31, while Nigeria B placed third at 3:40.50.

In contrast, the men’s 4x400m team narrowly missed qualification, clocking in at 3:04.59, just two seconds short of the required mark. The junior men’s 4x100m relay team also emerged victorious with a time of 43.32.
