NIHOTOUR and FTAN Collaborate to Resolve 2022 Act Issues

On September 11, 2023, the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) and the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) reached an agreement to address outstanding issues regarding the NIHOTOUR Act 2022 through dialogue. This decision was made during a strategic meeting held in Abuja, where both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing collaboration and professionalizing Nigeria's tourism, hospitality, and travel sectors.

A joint statement was issued, signed by NIHOTOUR Director-General Dr. Abisoye Fagade and FTAN President Dr. Aliyu Badaki, indicating that pending litigations concerning the Act would be resolved amicably. They also agreed to form a joint committee with representatives from both organizations to examine the Act's issues, clarify concerns, and develop actionable recommendations.

This committee aims to facilitate ongoing consultations between NIHOTOUR and the private sector, while both organizations committed to improving professional standards, supporting skills development, and fostering a conducive environment for tourism investment.
