NIHOTOUR Launches Committee for Hospitality Regulation

The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) has inaugurated the National Committee on Industry Professional Bodies Recognition and Governance (NCIPBRG) to develop a framework for recognizing and regulating professional bodies in Nigeria’s hospitality, tourism, travel, and allied sectors. Aare Abisoye Fagade, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIHOTOUR, inaugurated the committee at the institute’s headquarters in Abuja, instructing members to submit their recommendations within three months.

This initiative follows a recent stakeholders’ conference and aims to enhance professionalism, governance, and collaboration within the industry. Fagade emphasized the necessity for a unified governance framework to ensure accountability and ethical standards among the various professional associations operating in the sector.

The committee's tasks include establishing criteria for recognizing professional bodies, proposing governance standards, and enhancing professionalism and investor confidence. Professor Wasiu A.

Babalola, the committee's Chairman, expressed gratitude for the appointment and committed to delivering practical recommendations. The committee includes professionals from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and is expected to submit its report within three months.
