NIMASA Launches "Blue-Green" Maritime Enforcement Operation

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has initiated a coordinated enforcement operation named “Blue-Green” across key operational areas in Lagos. Osagie Edward, Deputy Director/Head of Public Relations at NIMASA, announced that the operation utilizes assets from the Integrated National Security and Waterways Protection Infrastructure, known as the Deep Blue structure, alongside relevant maritime security units.

The operation integrates intelligence gathering and analysis with enforcement actions at sea, featuring a new specialized intelligence capability designed to enhance the identification and prioritization of vessels of interest. Dr Dayo Mobereola, Director-General of NIMASA, stated that the “Blue-Green” operation will become a regular enforcement model, with plans to expand similar operations to other maritime regions such as Port Harcourt, Calabar, and Warri.

The operation involved boarding and inspecting several vessels for compliance with statutory certifications and documentation, aiming to strengthen maritime compliance and improve revenue generation.
