NIMASA and AMJON Collaborate for 2026 Maritime Summit

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) is partnering with the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) for the 2026 Maritime Training Summit and Awards, scheduled to take place in Lagos. This summit will gather regulators, industry operators, policymakers, training institutions, and maritime experts to explore strategies for developing a future-ready maritime workforce.

The theme of the summit will center on leveraging technology, modern training, and capacity development to position Nigeria to capitalize on opportunities within Blue Economy sectors. Dr. Dayo Mobereola, the Director-General of NIMASA, is expected to address the partnership's significance.

Vera Osokpo, the President of AMJON, praised NIMASA for its ongoing support of maritime development, highlighting the agency's regulatory interventions and capacity-building programs as vital for promoting indigenous participation and enhancing maritime safety. The summit aims to produce a communique with actionable recommendations to inform policies and industry practices.
