NIMASA Strengthens Maritime Ties with Gambia

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening seafarers' documentation and maritime digitalization during a four-day study visit to the Gambian Maritime Administration (GMA). The visit highlighted the importance of regional collaboration to advance efficient and secure global compliant seafarer certification systems.

Engr. Fatai Taiy Adeyemi, representing NIMASA's Director General Dr.

Dayo Mobereola, described the visit as a reflection of the strong relationship between Nigeria and Gambia, aimed at enhancing maritime administration and capacity development within Africa's maritime sector. Adeyemi shared Nigeria's experiences in digitizing seafarer documentation and certification processes, which GMA officials recognized as significant progress.

The Gambian delegation, led by Mr. Falu Sei, acknowledged NIMASA's strides in maritime development and digital transformation, which are crucial for advancing the blue economy.

The collaboration is expected to yield valuable lessons and strengthen maritime administration services in Gambia.
