NIMASA and NSIB Strengthen Maritime Safety Collaboration

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing maritime safety through collaboration with the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB). This commitment was articulated by Dr.

Dayo Mobereola, the Director General of NIMASA, during a courtesy visit from Captain Alex Sabundu Badeh Jnr., the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NSIB, at NIMASA's headquarters in Lagos. Dr.

Mobereola highlighted the strategic role of NSIB in promoting transportation safety and emphasized the need for practical frameworks to achieve sustainable results in maritime safety and security. He stated that both agencies share a responsibility to build a maritime sector that adheres to global best practices while safeguarding lives, vessels, and the marine environment.

Captain Badeh echoed this sentiment, noting that despite their distinct statutory mandates, both organizations aim for a safer maritime sector through effective collaboration, information sharing, and best practices.
