NIMC Launches Nationwide Identity Registration Drive

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has officially launched a nationwide identity registration drive, which began on February 16, 2026. This decentralized exercise aims to facilitate the registration of citizens for their National Identification Number (NIN) at ward enrollment centers across Nigeria.

Dr. Kayode Adegoke, the Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, emphasized the importance of the NIN as a foundational requirement for accessing critical government services in Nigeria. Citizens who have not yet enrolled are encouraged to participate and can find information on the nearest enrollment points through the NIMC website.

The commission also provides accurate information during the registration process via its official communication channels, including social media. Additionally, citizens can utilize the self-service modification portal and the NIN Authentication App available on Android to access digital identity services.
