NIMC to Launch Nationwide Ward-Level NIN Enrollment on February 16, 2026

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Nigeria has revealed plans to kick off a nationwide ward-level enrollment exercise for National Identification Numbers (NIN) on February 16, 2026. This initiative follows a presidential directive to expand NIN registration to grassroots levels.

Dr. Kayode Adegok, the Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, stated that the exercise aims to achieve a thorough registration of citizens and legal residents, encompassing both children and adults, with no cost incurred.

The move is part of the government's agenda to promote inclusive governance and enhance access to identity services, particularly in rural and underserved communities. NIMC is engaging key stakeholders at national, state, and local government levels to ensure a seamless implementation of the ward-level enrollment strategy.

The commission is encouraging all eligible Nigerian residents who are yet to enroll in the NIN system to take advantage of this opportunity.
