NiMet Forecasts Haze and Thunderstorms Across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather outlook predicting a three-day period of moderate dust haze and thunderstorms across Nigeria. The forecast, released on Saturday, indicates that the northern region will experience horizontal visibility ranging from two to five kilometers, with warnings of visibility dropping to less than 1,000 meters in parts of Katsina, Kano, and Jigawa states.

The north-central region is expected to experience moderate dust haze throughout the forecast period. On Monday, slight dust haze is anticipated in the northern region, while moderate dust haze will persist in the north-central region.

In contrast, the southern region is expected to have sunny skies with a few patchy clouds, and a slim chance of isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall in Lagos, Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states. NiMet has advised the public, particularly those with asthma and respiratory conditions, to take necessary precautions and urged motorists to drive carefully during rainfall to avoid accidents due to slippery roads.
