Nine Senators Defect to ADC from Various Parties

On Wednesday, nine senators officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from different political parties, including the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP). The senators who made the switch are: Ireti Kingibe (FCT, LP to ADC), Moham Ogoshi Onawo (Nasarawa South, PDP to ADC), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto South, PDP to ADC), Bino Dauda Yaro (Adamawa South, PDP to ADC), Austin Akobundu (Abia Central, PDP to ADC), Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South, APGA to ADC), Victor Umeh (Anambra Central, LP to ADC), Toni Nwoye (Anambra North, LP to ADC), and Lawal Adamu Usman (Kaduna Central, PDP to ADC).

This mass defection occurred during a plenary session and indicates a significant political realignment as the ADC gains momentum. Earlier reports had indicated that six members of the PDP were also set to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Young Progressives Party (YPP).
