NIPCO Gas to Build 20 New CNG Stations in Nigeria

NIPCO Gas Limited, led by Managing Director Nagendra Verma, announced plans to deploy 20 new compressed natural gas (CNG) stations nationwide as part of efforts to deepen gas utilization and support the federal government's clean energy post-subsidy reform agenda. During a media engagement in Lagos, Verma outlined the company's ongoing expansion initiatives within Nigeria's evolving energy landscape.

The project includes the development of a strategic compressed hub to support nationwide distribution, improving access to gas power along critical routes and urban centers. A key facility, a CNG mother station located in Lekki, is in advanced stages of completion and will serve as a primary dispatch hub.

NIPCO's strategy also involves extending supply beyond pipeline-connected locations through a reliable mother-daughter network model. Additionally, the company is constructing an 18-inch, 80-kilometer natural gas pipeline from Sagamu to Ibadan, scheduled for completion in June-July 2026, aimed at enhancing gas availability for industrial and commercial consumers in Ogun and Oyo states.
