NAPS Warns NMDPRA Against Disrupting Dangote Refinery

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has expressed concern regarding the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority's (NMDPRA) directive that could disrupt operations at Dangote Refinery. NAPS described the refinery as a strategic national asset, warning that any disruption could severely impact Nigeria's economy and the welfare of students.

Comrade Jimoh Ibrahim, the National President of NAPS, stated that the situation transcends a mere dispute between a regulatory body and a private entity, as it directly affects students and their families. NAPS supports responsible regulation but will oppose any actions that threaten national interests or impose economic burdens on citizens.

The organization highlighted the refinery's role in enhancing domestic refining capacity, creating jobs, and reducing reliance on imported petroleum products. NAPS warned that disruptions in the petroleum sector lead to increased costs for students, affecting their education and families.

They called for transparent and professional handling of any regulatory concerns regarding the refinery.
